The scheme is open to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) with annual income up to ₹3 Lakh, Low Income Groups (LIG) with income up to ₹6 Lakh, and Middle Income Groups (MIG-I up to ₹12 Lakh, MIG-II up to ₹18 Lakh). The applicant or any family member should not own a pucca house in any part of India.

Yes, if you own a plot but do not have a pucca house, you can apply under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) component. You will receive up to ₹1.5 Lakh as central assistance for constructing a house on your own plot.

Deen Dayal Jan Avas Yojna primarily covers urban areas. For rural housing, applicants may refer to the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme which provides similar benefits in rural areas.

The maximum subsidy depends on your income category:
• EWS/LIG: Up to ₹2.67 Lakh (6.5% interest subsidy on loan up to ₹6 Lakh)
• MIG-I: Up to ₹2.35 Lakh (4% interest subsidy on loan up to ₹9 Lakh)
• MIG-II: Up to ₹2.30 Lakh (3% interest subsidy on loan up to ₹12 Lakh)

The subsidy is credited directly to your loan account through the lending institution (bank/HFC). It is adjusted against your outstanding loan amount, thereby reducing your EMI or loan tenure. The subsidy is front-loaded at the time of loan disbursement.

The following documents are required:
• Aadhaar Card (mandatory)
• Income Certificate from competent authority
• Bank account details (for DBT)
• Address proof (Voter ID/Utility Bill/Ration Card)
• Affidavit of non-ownership of pucca house
• Passport size photographs (4 copies)
• PAN Card (for MIG categories)

The typical processing timeline is:
• Application submission to verification: 15-30 days
• Verification to approval: 30-45 days
• Approval to allotment: 60-90 days
Total time from application to possession may vary from 6 months to 2 years depending on project stage and location.
